Rave Wireless needed assistance in the development of a stable and reliable wireless notification and alert system.What We Did
The existing SMS distribution server was unreliable, provided no visibility into the status of delivery, and provided no retransmit capabilities when SMS delivery failed. Nine Summer implemented a distribution server that allowed for both SMPP (native SMS protocol) and SMTP (SMS over SMTP) delivery capabilities which allowed for failover from SMPP to SMTP in the event of an SMPP aggregator outage. Throughput was increased by using JBoss Messaging in clustered mode which allowed nearly infinite horizontal scaling. In addition, a dashboard was provided that allowed visibility into the depth and status of the delivery queue.Results
- Created a scalable messaging system that allowed for N nodes.
- Created a robust system that allowed for failover to alternate delivery methods if primary provider was unavailable.
- Gave administrators real-time visibility into the status of their current message flow.
